Description This paper aims at providing insight to the design of the solution to the electricity problem in Nigeria. From studies, the lingering ineffectiveness in the electricity supply problem was identified to be heavily rooted in maintenance neglect. A Least Square Sinusoidal Model, generally accepted for the determination appropriate cycles was applied to a sample observation spanning fifteen years. This involves the determination of the cycle to be used; hence a sensitivity analysis was employed to determine the cycle that satisfies the equation by considering several cycles in the same neighborhood: cycles six, ten, thirteen, fifteen and twenty. Results obtained show that cycle thirteen achieved the best fit and confirmed the electricity maintenance data to be sinusoidal in nature. These findings, apart from validating the maintenance neglect, it will also provide a policy framework for government, policy makers and above all, managers of resources in the maintenance department of the electricity distribution section and the energy sector of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
