Description Description of land-use dynamics provides insights into the ecological and biogeographical processes. The relationship of human and biological components and climatic conditions are well incorporated in land-use analysis. In the present communication, we aim to map the forest and land-use changes and analyze the alteration at spatial and temporal scales in order to better understand the geo-ecological and socio-cultural complexities using aerial photography, satellite imagery and topographic maps. An account of forest cover loss was evidenced more intense in the last decade however, contested with the earlier studies. Forest cover did not decline at the forest fringes but, instead, was degraded by the invasion of non-native plant species. High human dependency on forest resources and over-exploitations were the major causes of change. These changes are accentuated as urbanization, human migration, population growth and exploitation of government owned forests is still in place today.
