Title Mastery of PUEBI First-Year Students: Form of Teacher Candidates in the Context of Literacy Learning

Description The main competency of prospective teachers in the context of literacy learning is knowledge content. Prospective teachers of Indonesian Language and Literature should be able to master the rules in Indonesian spelling, such as mastery of vocabulary, punctuation, and effective sentences. Literacy learning will be carried out well if the teacher has qualified knowledge content. The purpose of this study was to measure the ability of early semester students in mastering Indonesian spelling. The data in this study are in the form of PUEBI ability test scores. The sample in this study found 85 people who took the Basics of Materials lecture. Data were analyzed using quantitative formulas. The results of this study indicate that 50% of the sample have very good PUEBI mastery and need intensive enrichment to the other 50% of the sample.Keywords: PUEBI mastery, capability, first-year students, literacy.
