Description The objective of this research was to analyze the relationship between the dimensions of burnout and the coping styles of the teachers of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences of the University of Guayaquil in the academic period May-October 2020. The study was non-experimental of a quantitative type; correlational scope and cross-sectional; where a questionnaire containing the Maslach Burnout Inventory scale; version in Spanish; was applied to measure the degree of burnout and the inventory of coping with stressful situations. Among the findings; the factorial structure of the scales used as well as their reliability in the studied sample is confirmed in the first place. It was also verified the research hypothesis determining that 86% of the teachers present a medium-high level of Burnout. Regarding both emotional and avoidant coping styles; these are related to the degree of prevalence of the syndrome with p<0.05 (p=0.000 and p=0.007 respectively). In conclusion; the teachers of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences of the University of Guayaquil; are burned in a medium and high degree; and must make use of coping strategies according to the levels of emotional exhaustion; professional self-esteem and depersonalization.
El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar la relación entre las dimensiones del burnout y los estilos de afrontamiento de los docentes de la Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas de la Universidad de Guayaquil en el periodo académico mayo-octubre del 2020. El estudio fue no experimental de tipo cuantitativo, alcance correlacional y de corte transversal, donde se aplicó un cuestionario que contenía la escala Maslach Burnout Inventory versión en español para medir el grado de burnout y el inventario de afrontamiento de situaciones estresantes. Entre los hallazgos se confirma, en primer lugar, la estructura factorial de las escalas utilizadas, así como su fiabilidad en la muestra estudiada, igualmente se comprueba la hipótesis de investigación, determinándose que el 86% de los docentes presenta un nivel medio-alto de Burnout. Respecto al estilo de afrontamiento tanto emocional como el evitativo, estos se relacionan con el grado de prevalencia del síndrome con p0.05 (p=0. 000 y p=0.007 respectivamente). En conclusión, los docentes de la Facultad de Ciencias Administrativas de la Universidad de Guayaquil, están fatigados en grado medio y alto, y deben hacer uso de estrategias de afrontamiento de acuerdo a los niveles de agotamiento emocional, autoestima profesional y despersonalización.The objective of this research was to analyze the relationship between the dimensions of burnout and the coping styles of the teachers of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences of the University of Guayaquil in the academic period May-October 2020.
