Description Pulses are an important part of Indian daily diets. Pulses are a key commodity category of crops that supply high quantity protein to the country's mainly vegetarian population, supplementary grains proteins. India is the world's leading producer and consumer of pulses. India imports a considerable number of pulses to meet the domestic requirement of pulses. India remains responsible for almost 15 percent of the import-export, 27 percent of the total consumption of pulses at the world level, and 25 percent of the total production of the pulses every year.
