Abstract
This paper discusses the assimilation of the National Philosophy of Education in Teaching and Learning (TaL) Malay idioms in primary schools. This study argues that applying the National Education Philosophy values have been assimilated implicit in the TaL idioms (Malay Language Primary School Level 1). A qualitative approach of textual analysis is carried out on a textbook Malay Language Primary School Level 1. In order to detect the assimilation of these pure values, purposive sampling was performed. The results of this study found that there are 19 idioms involving the Philosophy of National Education, namely craft (6 frequencies, 31.58%), love (5 frequencies, 26.32%), independence (4 frequencies, 21.05%), respect (2 frequencies, 10.53%), moderation (1 frequency, 5.26%) and gratitude (1 frequency, 5.26%). However, this study found only five noble values assimilated in TaL idioms guided by the National Philosophy of Education. Therefore, the Ministry of Education Malaysia should take the initiative to add idioms related to the National Education Philosophy starting from TaL in primary schools.
