Description ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk : 1) mengetahui efektifitas pendekatan saintifik terhadap keterampilan proses sains peserta didik kelas XII SMA Negeri 4 Watampone ; 2) mengetahui efektifitas pendekatan saintifik terhadap hasil belajar kognitif biologi peserta didik kelas XII SMA Negeri 4 Watampone. Jenis penelitian ini adalah pre-eksperimen dengan One-Group Pre test-Post tes Design, perlakuan diberikan secara purporsive pada satu kelompok eksperimen. Teknik pengumpulan data untuk variable terikat dilakukan dengan menggunakan instrument berupa lembar observasi yang dilengkapi dengan rubric penilaian untuk keterampilan proses sains, dan intrumen berupa tes hasil belajar bentuk soal pilihan ganda untuk data hasil belajar kognitif biologi. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dengan N Gain. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan proses sains termasuk kategori tinggi dengan rata-rata skor pada 11 indikator kemampuan sebesar 3,78 dan standar deviasi sebesar 0,47. Hasil belajar kognitif biologi sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan pendekatan saintifik diperoleh rata-rata peningkatan skor atau deviasi sebesar 36,5 dan standar deviasi sebesar 5,524, artinya rata-rata peserta didik dapat menambahkan jumlah jawaban benar sekitar 9 dan 10 butir soal. Artinya pendektan saintifik cukup efektif untuk  meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif biologi peserta didik kelas XII MIPA SMA Negeri 4 Watampone.  Efektifitas pendekatan saintifik terhadap kemajuan hasil belajar kognitif Biologi berkategori sedang dengan nilai N-gain 0,578. Jika dikelompokkan berdasarkan kelompok sedang dan tinggi diperoleh bahwa Nilai rata-rata N-gain kelompok sedang adalah 0,549 sedang rata-rata N-gain kelompok tinggi sebesar 0,744.Kata kunci: pendekatan saintifik, keterampilan proses sains, hasil belajar kognitif biologi. ABSTRACTThis study aims to: 1) determine the effectiveness of the scientific approach to the science process skills of students of XII class of SMAN 4 Watampone; 2) determine the effectiveness of the scientific approach to biology cognitive learning outcomes of students of XII class of SMAN 4 Watampone. The research is a pre-experiment with the One-Group Pretest-Post test design, the treatment given purporsive on the experimental group. The technique of collecting data for the dependent variable is done by using the instrument in the form of observation sheet that comes with assessment rubric for science process skills, and instruments such as achievement test form MCQs for biological cognitive learning outcome data. Analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis with N-Gain. The result showed that the science process skills including high category with an average score of the 11 indicators of the ability of 3.78 and a standard deviation of 0.47. Cognitive learning outcomes before and after treatment biology scientific approach gained an average increase in scores or deviation of 36.5 and a standard deviation of 5.524, meaning that the average learner can add the number of correct answers about 9 of 10 items. It means that scientific approach quite effective for improving the cognitive learning biology of students of XII class of SMAN 4 Watampone. The effectiveness of the scientific approach to the advancement of the cognitive learning category moderately N-gain value 0.578. If grouped by medium and high groups showed that the average value of the N-gain medium group was 0.549 was the average N-gain high-groups of 0.744.Key words: scientific approach, science process skills, cognitive learning of biology.
