Kannagi, the women of chaste in Tamil Nadu is worshipped by various villages in different names. Kannagi destroyed the city of Madurai and the Pandiyan king during the Tamil month of Aadi and tasted the fruit of success, so the whole month is greatly celebrated worshipping Goddess Amman. Kannagi’s worship through the Kawaagu soil which was introduced among the Sri Lankans is practiced till now. As Kannagi, along with her husband flew to heaven by the border of the Cheras Dynasty. Hence Bagawadhi Amman is worshipped in and around Kerala. Kannagi, whose life was devasted by an anklet, triumphed the injustice posed on her husband’ death by her chastity and thus established justice in the country is called ‘Folk Fairy’. This research aims to prove the above.
