Description The purpose of this article is to present a theoretical review of mixed methods research, with the aim of shedding light on the model and, possibly, instigating its practice. Authors such as Niglas (2004), Bryman (2006), Wooley (2008), Paranhos et al (2016), among others, point out that methodological triangulation is a desire of researchers in the areas of the humanities and social sciences, although there is still much difficulty in its application. In this sense, this article tries to gather certain concepts and particularities of this method, from authors who have been dedicated to scrutinize triangulation as a type of research that goes beyond purely including varied stages of data collection in the investigation : Teddlie, Tashakkori ( 2006), Small (2011) Oliveira (2015), Creswell (2014), x and Y, among others. The proposal is to compile concepts and application modes to serve an introductory study on the theme.
