Description Abstract - The smart leadership style implemented by K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X has an important role in improving the organization work performance in Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta. This is due to its positive effects in strengthening the “Abdi Dalem” commitment as well as managing their motivation well. The implication of the K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X leadership to the improvement of the organization work performance must include some competencies and put together the elements of ethics and professionalism in organization of Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta. The elements include five dimensions, they are: Logic, Power Resource, Knowledge, Core Leadership Functions, and Character. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The instruments applied are survey, quantitative data and interviews. The results of the study show that there is influence of the “Abdi Dalem” reliance in taking initiatives to the role of KGPAA Paku Alam X when he is not in charge nor in Puro Pakualaman Palace. The numbers based on the data show less significant influence: Work Performance 49.7%, Motivation 27.2%, and Commitment 22.1%. The result of the research also shows that whenever the “Abdi Dalem” find difficulties in undertaking their duties, most of them will ask for the decision of “Penghageng” or the Tepas Department Head.

Abstrak - Gaya Kepemimpinan yang Smart dari K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X sangat berperan dalam meningkatkan kinerja organisasi di Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta karena berdampak pada kuatnya komitmen Abdi Dalem dan terbinanya dengan baik Motivasi kerja mereka. Implikasi Kepemimpinan K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X terhdap peningkatan kinerja organisasi harus disertai kompetensi dengan meletakkan unsur etika dan profesionalisme dalam organisasi di Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta, yang meliputi lima dimensi yaitu : Nalar, Sumber Kekuasaan, Pengetahuan, Fungsi Kepemimpinan inti dan Karakter. Metode penelitian ini yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan didukung oleh survey, data kuantitatif dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ditemukan pengaruh ketergantungan dari Abdi Dalem dalam mengambil inisiatif sendiri terhadap peran K.G.P.A.A. Paku Alam X ketika tidak berada ditempat atau di Istana Pura Pakualaman Yogyakarta, menunjukkan angka yang kurang berarti yaitu Kinerja 49,7%, Motivasi 27,2%, Komitmen 22,1%. Hasil penelitian yang sama menunjukkan bahwa ketika Abdi Dalem menemukan kesulitan dalam bertugas, kebanyakan dari Abdi Dalem akan menunggu untuk meminta keputusan dari Penghageng atau kepala bagin Tepas.
