Description Suicide is a human phenomenon that has generated diverse epistemological approaches with an emphasis on the religious, the medical, the psychological or the social. The critical approaches, those proposed by the positivist orientations work to prevent suicide from reductionist, biased and limiting positions that end in ineffective results. In this sense, the perspectives of constructionist psychology assume a critical look at the phenomenon of suicide, in terms of socially constructed everyday reality. As part of this approach, the narrative becomes a means by which you get to know, understand and make sense of the social world and the human acts that comprise it. Thus, the narrative constructionist model invites us to look at the construction of the narrative or the suicidal stories that underlie the community (community and political dimensions) as well as the personal and sociocultural context of the person to understand the significance of the phenomenon in all its complexity. In this sense, preventive programs should be aimed at fostering hope and confronting the subjectivities that generate psychosocial suffering.
