Descriptive Cross-sectional study involving 787 students from a private university in Bogota. Its objectives were to determine the alcohol consump- tion prevalence, alcoholism and risk of alcoholism and determine the current pattern of alcohol con- sumption. A survey –which included the CAgE index– was used to collect the data. A prevalence of alcoholism of 23%, and of risk of alcoholism of 15% were found. Results show that alcohol con- sumption in university students begins in high school and it is a problematic conduct that it is worth being enlarged and analyzed in greater detail including other variables and perfecting the diag- nosis of alcoholism and its risk in order to achieve early identification and intervention.
Estudio transversal, con 787 estudiantes de una universidad privada de Bogotá D.C. Sus objetivos fueron determinar la prevalencia del consumo de alcohol, del alcoholismo y del riesgo de alcoholismo, y establecer el patrón del consumo actual de alcohol. Se utilizó una encuesta para recolectar los datos dentro de la cual se incluyó el índice CA- gE. Se encontró una prevalencia de alcoholismo del 23% y de riesgo de alcoholismo del 75%. los resultados indican que el consumo de alcohol en estudiantes universitarios inicia en la secundaria y es una conducta problemática que amerita ser ampliada y analizada más detalladamente, teniendo en cuenta otras variables y perfeccionando el diagnóstico del alcoholismo y su riesgo para lograr una identificación e intervención temprana. |
