Description Misuse of public vehicles and fuel cards is becoming a worrisomemenace. This study examined the level of compliance to the vehicle usepolicy of the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. The descriptivestudy used likert-scaled questionnaire and movement resgiter for datasourcing, and inferential statistics for analysis of generated data.Respondents were vehicle users of the Logistics & Transport Unit ofthe Office of the Vice-Chancellor, University of Port Harcourt.Findings revealed proportional improvement in policy-compliance andinversely proportional rise in maintenance/operational costs withenforcement of policy as well as expected decreases in the vehiclemaintenance/operational costs. There was a strong and positivecorrelation between policy implementation strategies and the rate ofcompliance by the vehicle users. The strength of the relationshipbetween the variables under study was 98.10%. Variation in the rate ofcompliance by the vehicle users was explained by changes in the policy implementation strategies. The study recommended unrelaxed effortsat policy-compliance enforcement.Keywords: Transport fleet management; Policy-compliance;Maintenance costs
