In Nigeria, climate change impacts sectors of the economy:agriculture and food security, water resources, human health, energy, recreation and tourism. The signature of climatechange is also seen on extreme meteorological events, such asfloods, droughts, heat waves, ocean surges, strong winds andstorms. These strong weather events have been identified to beimpacting strongly on the hydrological cycle and watercatchment systems in Nigeria. This paper captured bothevidences and impacts of these extreme weather events butespecially floods, droughts and ocean surges and linked themto water supply and demand systems of Nigeria. Increasingfrequency and magnitudes of floods, droughts and ocean surgesare capable of compromising access to potable water both interms of quality and quantity in the country.
