Description This paper x-rays the basic economic principles employed inevaluating environmental projects. It viewed economicevaluation as a crucial component of capital budgeting usedfor allocating the financial resources of private and publicorganizations of a nation in order to achieve sustainabledevelopment. It opined that projects development/managementstrategies must embody full dose of green/sustainabilitystrategies whose private/social costs and benefits cashflowsare estimated, strategically projected and discounted toenable projects with highest net social benefits to beimplemented. It identifies CBA as a versatile evaluationtechnique suited for public and major private projects andrecommended the bridging of private and social rates ofreturn to serve as a catalyst for private-sector-led social andeconomic development activities that would ensuresustainability of development.
