Description  Abstract
Short-term contraceptives still dominate the use of contraceptives in Indonesia. Short-term contraception can lead to a high rate of discontinuation of family planning. The results of the 2011 mini-survey using the Long-Term Method of Contraception (MKJP) are still relatively low. Based on data, MKPJ coverage in Indonesia in 2018 was only 17.8%, in South Sumatra 15.76%, in Palembang 11.6%. Predisposing factors can affect the use of MKJP, including age, education level, occupation, and a number of children. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the selection of MKJP on family planning acceptors. This research is a descriptive observational study conducted at Independent Practice Midwives and Maternity Homes in Palembang City from December 2019 to March 2020. The sample in this study amounted to 40 respondents. The tools in this study were in the form of a questionnaire on the characteristics of the respondents, as well as a KB Participant Status Card (K/IV/KB) form to see the methods and types of contraceptives chosen by the respondents. The data analysis that will be carried out is univariate data analysis. Result: Characteristics of family planning acceptors obtained the majority of 72.5% mothers aged 20-35 years, 42.5% high school/high school education, 52.5% working and the majority of children two children as much as 57.5%. In the selection of contraception, 29 mothers (72.5%) did not choose MKJP or continued to use non-MKJP contraception, and only five mothers (12.5%) chose and used/installed MKJP.
