Description The entry of Islam in a country is insepArable from the role of Middle Eastern traders who enter Indonesia. However, not all of Indonesia's territory was touched by the Middle Eastern traders as was the case in Sambas. The purpose of this study was to find a picture of the dynamics of curriculum changes in Islamic educational institutions in Sambas during the empire. The method used in this research is literature by searching various sources of books, articles both national and international. The findings of the research conducted is the Islamization in Sambas is insepArable from the role of the sultanate who entered into contact relations through marriage, although Islam has long been present in Sambas through contact traders from Cheng Ho's men with the Hanafi school of thought but its development is not very meaningful. After the extraordinary development of Islam in Sambas, there was only the modernization of education in the era of Sultan Muhammad Syafiuddin II, but only experienced a period of development, because Dutch politics were able to play the role of Islamic educational institutions in Sambas even though Sambas was known as the "Veranda of Mecca."
