Creator Dziura, Boris
Description A growing necessity of legal harmonisation of environmental legislation of Ukraine with EU environmental legal norms resulted mostly from spillover effects of Ukraine’s policy goal to speed up the development of the Free Trade Agreement with EU. Signing on 21 March 2014 political chapter of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and EU in the section that concerns political and economic cooperation was the first step towards the development of a productive cooperation between Ukraine and EU. However, the deepening of trade relations between Ukraine and EU is limited by low innovative development and competitiveness of domestic producers and the country as a whole; discrepancy in the quality of Ukrainian products and European standards; lack of strategic management in the Ukrainian enterprises. At the same time, above mentioned is to large extent dependent on the effectiveness of environmental policy. Current paper aimed at developing the stages convergence of environmental policy of Ukraine and EU. The following stages have been recommended: identifying the strategic focus areas of environmental convergence of Ukraine and EU; elimination of existing disadvantages of national environmental policy of Ukraine; selection of the system of effective measures for transition of Ukraine to green economy; selection of an effective mix of environmental policy instruments in the field of energy efficiency and pollution; selection of the convergent mechanism for the implementation of the measures of transition to green economy.
