Revista de Filosofia Aurora

This publication was established in 1988 under the name  Revista de Filosofia da PUC-PR  (Journal of Philosophy of the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná) with the purpose of creating an open channel for publishing research in philosophy, especially the research that is produced locally without concern for thematic foci. However, since 1998, the Philosophy Program of PUCPR demanded higher standards of its intellectual productions towards the improvement of research groups and dialogues with other research centers in the field of philosophy. These changes had a repercussion on the journal, which underwent an upgrade after the restructuring of the editorial committee and went through a rigorous selection of articles that were predominantly by researchers from outside PUCPR. An upgrade such as this played an important role and culminated in the planning of a Master’s Program in Philosophy that was approved by CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel )  in 2003. As such, the activities related to the master’s program, which started in 2004, especially those connected to research projects, were developed with researchers from other institutions and led to the journal’s recognition. The journal further expanded its initial purpose to present itself as a channel for publishing quality research in philosophy to the local philosophical community, the whole country, and the world. It offered this community different types of bibliographic productions, such as reports, diversified articles, reviews, essays, and thesis abstracts. Fortunately, the journal continued to evolve from the second semester of 2006 because of the combination of two factors: (1) the rearticulating of the productions classified under the title “report and continuous flow” in addition to reviews and (2) its revised layout and design and the addition of an electronic version. At the beginning of 2008, the  Revista   Filosofia Aurora , by means of its new publication policies, became a leader in the Brazilian philosophy scene. This was confirmed by the introduction of the Doctoral Program in Philosophy at PUCPR in 2012, which represented a new step in the qualitative effort that marked the periodical’s objectives. Currently, the  Revista de Filosofia Aurora  seeks to bridge the gap between the policies adopted by the indexing bodies and contact various foreign universities to increase internationalization of the periodical.
